APPROACH
Amelia is a designer and fabricator who approaches projects with creative and inclusive solutions while using mindful material application. She is driven to create a positively unforgettable experience for an audience, as well as the crew.
BACKGROUND
Amelia was raised in the outskirts of Philadelphia by an architect and a psychologist / neuroscientist. Her youth was filled with drafting, models, and construction sites, but also performing experiments, asking big questions, and trying to understand motives. After going to film school for cinematography, she realized her skill set and hands-on approach to storytelling was better fit for Production Design and Art Direction.
She moved to Los Angeles in 2010 and quickly got sucked into making music videos, commercials, and indie films with friends. In 2012 she crossed paths with JJ Abrams, beginning a long-time design collaboration of the sci-fi genre. Amelia has since jumped into the world of television, and loves keeping audiences in suspense from week to week.
Amelia and her husband, a marine biologist, live in Los Angeles. Their pastimes include outdoor adventures, restoring their land to its native ecology, exploring construction projects, and raising their large family of mammals, reptiles, and insects.
SUSTAINABILITY
Amelia Co-Chairs the Art Directors Guild’s new Green Committee, which is actively working on promoting a more sustainable Art Department by providing resources, education, eco-friendly solutions, and partnerships with the multitude of industry crafts, vendors, and producers.
